Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information is collected when you visit danevexlan.com (the “Site”), sign up for the free chapter or buy a product, and how that information is used. “Dane Vexlan”, “I”, “me” and “we” refer to the author and operator of the Site.

Short version: I collect only what’s needed to deliver your books and email you about them. I never sell your data.

1. What I collect

Information you give me:

  • Free chapter sign-up: your email address and, if you choose to give it, your first name.
  • Purchases: your name, email address, country and order details (what you bought, the price and the date). This comes to me from Lemon Squeezy, which processes the payment. I never see or store your card or bank details.
  • Emails you send me: your email address and whatever you write.

Information collected automatically:

When you browse the Site, standard technical data is collected through cookies and similar technologies:

  • IP address
  • browser and device type
  • approximate location (country or city level)
  • pages viewed
  • the site that referred you
  • time spent on the Site

2. How I use it

  • to deliver your purchase and resend files if you need them
  • to send the free chapter you asked for, plus follow-up emails about the book (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • to answer your emails and handle refunds
  • to understand how visitors use the Site so I can improve it
  • to prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal and tax obligations

Legal bases (for visitors in the EU, UK and similar jurisdictions):

  • performance of a contract: delivering what you bought
  • consent: marketing emails and non-essential cookies
  • legitimate interests: site security and improvement
  • legal obligation: tax and accounting records

3. Who I share it with

Your information is shared only with the service providers that run the Site and the business:

  • Shopify hosts the Site and its analytics. See Shopify’s Privacy Policy.
  • Lemon Squeezy is our Merchant of Record. It processes payments and refunds, calculates tax and delivers your files. When you buy, Lemon Squeezy collects your payment information directly under its own Privacy Policy.
  • Email providers send the free chapter and newsletters, and handle my inbox.

These providers may only use your information to provide their services to me. I may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect my rights or the safety of others.

I don’t sell or rent your personal information, and I don’t share it with anyone for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Cookies

The Site uses:

  • Essential cookies, which the Site needs to work.
  • Analytics cookies, which help me understand traffic.

Where the law requires it, you’ll be asked for consent before non-essential cookies are set. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The Site will still work, though some features may not.

5. Marketing emails

You’ll only receive marketing emails if you signed up for the free chapter or bought a product. Every email includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately.

Emails about your order, such as receipts and download links, are sent even if you’ve unsubscribed, because they’re part of your purchase.

6. How long I keep it

  • Order records: kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require, usually up to 10 years.
  • Email list data: kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it.
  • Support emails: kept for as long as needed to help you, then deleted periodically.
  • Analytics data: kept according to Shopify’s standard retention periods.

7. International transfers

The service providers above may process your data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • see the personal information I hold about you
  • correct or delete it
  • object to or restrict how it’s used
  • receive a copy of it in a portable format
  • withdraw consent at any time (for example, by unsubscribing)
  • complain to your local data protection authority

California residents: you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion and to not be discriminated against for using your rights. I don’t sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

To use any of these rights, email dane@danevexlan.com. I’ll respond within 30 days. I may need to confirm your identity first, for example by asking you to write from the email address you used to buy.

9. Security

Reasonable measures are used to protect your information. The Site is served over HTTPS, and payments are handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but I take the protection of your data seriously.

10. Children

The Site and products are intended for adults. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given me their information, email me and I’ll delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If the changes are significant, I’ll make that clear on the Site.
